Blood Vessels

Do you know that you have blood vessels in your body? Well you do. You have lots of them. They are tubes which blood flows through. There are three different blood vessels in your body. The three blood vessels are Arteries, Veins and Capillaries. Arteries are the biggest blood vessels in your body, Veins are smaller than Arteries but still not the smallest and Capillaries are the smallest blood vessels in your body. Arteries carry blood away from the heart and every where in the body and the blood that flows through the Arteries is bright red because the blood has oxygen. The blood has been through the heart and lungs that’s where the blood gets the oxygen. Veins carry blood back to the heart and lungs to get more oxygen. The blood that flows through Veins is blue because the blood has no oxygen. No one knows why blood becomes blue after the blood has no oxygen and no one knows why the blood becomes red when the blood has oxygen. Capillaries are tiny blood vessels that make a kind of a tunnel for your blood to get from your Arteries to your Veins. When you bleed a bit you are destroying around fifty of your Capillaries not your Veins or Arteries. Do you know how long your Arteries, Veins and Capillaries would go if you stretched them and connected them? Well in an adult body they would circle the planet Earth three times! Do you think your blood flows slowly through your body or dose the blood go fast? The answer is your blood circulates your body quite fast. Your blood only takes one minute to circulate all around your body! The longest Blood Vessel in your body is an Artery and the Arteries name is Aorta. Well now you know about blood vessels and any second you can try to picture your blood flowing smoothly and fast trough your blood vessels! You can also try to picture how many blood vessels you have and how do they fit in you body (remember they will circle the planet Earth three times)?

White Blood Cells

Have you ever wondered what kills all your germs in your body? They are white blood cells that kill the germs in your body. White Blood Cells are like solders or police man of your body. When germs get into your body they duplicate them and become from 1 to two white blood cells and soon their could be thousands of white blood cells. So when you become a bit sick all you have to do is rest and sleep often. If you just do that your white blood cells will probly be able to kill the germs in your body without any use of medicine however, sometimes they are not able to kill the germs and then you have to take medicine. Medicine is just like a boost to the white blood cells. That is why you have to eat medicine sometimes. So keep on resting when you are sick and just let your white blood cells do their job!

Blood Pressure

Blood Pressure is the pressure that the blood gives on the wall of the arteries as the blood flows through the artery. There are two kinds of pressure-diastolic pressure and systolic pressure. The normal blood pressure in an human adult is 120/80 millimeter. The pressure should not increase or decrease too much as too high or too low blood pressure can be life threatening. If you eat too much salt your blood pressure can go up. You don't need to worry about your blood pressure too much because if you are just normal nothing will happen to you.
