White Blood Cells, Red Blood Cells, Platelets and Plasma

Once there was a boy who was looking at a book about the things in your blood. He found out that the things in your blood are red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma. He was so exited he kept on reading the book. He found out that red blood cells are like trucks that carry oxygen to every cell in your body and that there are so many red blood cells your blood becomes red. He found out that white blood cells are like solders of your body and they kill germs so you do not get sick. He read that white blood cells flow through your blood as well as red blood cells. Then he found out about platelets. He now knew that platelets come rushing to the place you are bleeding and they make a thing that makes you stop bleeding. Their job is only a few seconds long. Finally he read about plasma. Plasma is a liquid that red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets travel through. He found out about a lot of things in the book and he couldn't wait to tell his friends about red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma.

Anemia

One day an old man came to the hospital. He says to the doctor "I feel so tired all the time these days. Is there anything wrong with me or am I getting just too old?"

"I think you have anemia. Anemia is a disease in which you feel tired because your red blood cells are not as strong as they should be and they just can't carry as many oxygen as they should. You also have not as many red blood cells as you should have so that makes their job really difficult.
There are a few ways to keep your red blood cells healthy. You should just eat iron food and exercise often. Iron food is good because that increases you red blood cells and that is good. Exercise will just keep your red blood cells strong and hopefully they will become stronger in the future"

The Heart

The heart is the strongest muscle is your body. Your hearts only has one job and the job is to pump blood. The heart is also one of the most importuned part of your body because the second your hearts stops beating and the second your hearts stops pumping blood you will die. The heart has four chambers. They are called the right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle and the left ventricle. The atriums are at the upper part of your heart and ventricles are in the lower part of your heart. Another thing in your heart is your valves. Valves are small parts in your heart that let the blood flow through one chamber to another chamber. When you hear your heart beat you are hearing your valves open and close. In a day the your heart pumps around 1,900 gallons in 24 hours! One way to harm your heart is eating lots of fatty food. Fatty food sticks to your heart and that makes a harder job for the heart to pump the blood. If the fatty food sticks to your valves then the blood just stays in one of the atriums or ventricles. If that happens you might need to have a operation which is quite serious. So do you want to keep your heart healthy? That is really easy. Don't eat too much of fatty food all the time. You can eat fatty food once a meal but just don't eat too much. Another way to keep your heart healthy is to exercise quite often. If you just keep on doing these two way to keep your heart healthy you will be healthy and fit for the rest of your life!

The Circulatory System

The circulatory system is about the circulation of the blood through the network of blood vessels. The circulatory system includes the heart and the blood vessels. There are three different blood vessels in your body and they are arteries, veins and capillaries. Capillaries are very fragile so they can be destroyed easily. When you get a small scratch and you bleed a bit you are destroying around 50 of your capillaries (which doesn't matter). Destroying an artery or a vein is really rare. You can't destroy them when you get a small scratch and you don't destroy them even when you get a deep cut as well. Arteries carry oxygen to ever cell in your body and the veins carry blood back to the heart to get more oxygen. The heart is the most important part in the circulatory system because if the heart stops to pump blood you will die. Your heart keeps on pumping blood and pumping blood till you are dead. So move ahead and read everything about the circulatory system which promises to be an very interesting system!
